- Achievement - Granted to dragons who accomplish certain tasks, like amassing 100,000 gold in its cave at once, or winning 5 attacks in a row. They don't alter the dragon in any way, but they give trainers something to strive for.
- Assist - When one dragon helps another dragon to defend its cave and gold.
- Anti-bullying code - Code implemented to prevent bullying behavior. One victory or two losses permitted against one target per rolling 3 days.

- Battle Record - See combat record.
- Beta - The testing period before an app. becomes open for all users.
- Bebo - PD's second home. Still in beta testing.
- Board - A place where dragon rankings in various categories and in relation to all other dragons can be found.
- Bloater - A dragon who spends most of their turns hunting for food.
- Bumped - Being replaced by a more powerful dragon when assisting a friend.
- Bully - A dragon who attacks another dragon very frequently, either to be an annoyance, or to steal as much gold as possible. Anti-bullying code was implemented to limit this.

- Cap - The maximum amount of fighting skill a dragon can have at its current weight. The cap is 10% of the dragon's weight. If a dragon is at cap, it cannot gain anymore fighting skill until it grows again. A capped dragon is one who is at its maximum fighting skill for its weight.
- Cave Bug - The April Fools Day joke on April 1, 2008 where a mysterious "Cave Bug" issued 14 fake attacks on every dragon in the game. People who used their turns on this day got the achievement "Is a hacking???"
- Caver - A dragon who spends most of its turns searching for gold, but remains in the cave to protect it from attacks. See: Cavers.
- Combat Record - The Win/Loss record of a dragon. Both offensive and defensive battles count here.
- Custom Title - An item available at the shop for 500,000 gold that allows dragons to be given a unique text below their name to enhance their prestige and general coolness.

- FAQ - A list of PD's most commonly asked questions. Answers included.
- Facebook - The original home of Pet Dragons.
- Firebreathing Turkey - A Thanksgiving's Day joke played on November 22, 2007. The very first joke played on the Pet Dragons users, this involved a firebreathing turkey that appeared to attack all the users in the game. People who used their turns on this day got the "Turkey Slayer" achievement.
- Flask of HabaƱero Concentrate - Item available at the shop for 500 gold that adds an average boost to your combat power for one fight. Sometimes called Pepper Juice.

- Gambler's Gulp - A potion available at the shop for 2,000 gold. This potion acts as a counter to the Potion of Furious Angry Rage but as the description implies, not without risk.
- Gold - Buys stuff, you know, at the shop. Also looks pretty and makes a nice bed.
- Gold Class - The as the amount of gold a dragon has increases the description also changes. For class specifics, follow the link.

- Hoarder - A dragon who uses the majority of his/her turns to collect gold. Many (but not all) Hoarders are also Cavers.
- Hoarder's Delight - Potion available for purchase at the local shop for 1,000 gold. It decreases the amount of gold that can be stolen by 2.5% but is paired with an average loss to defensive power.

- Item - Something that is purchasable at the shop and that can be used for your dragon. Generally, items are used in combat.

- PD - An acronym for Pet Dragons.
- PD Fanatic - Shhhh, its a secret.

- PoFAR - An acronym for the Potion of Furious Angry Rage.
- Potion - A one use item available in a variety of flavors and purposes for use in combat.

- Raid - To successfully steal gold from another dragon.
- Rank - The position held on one of the various boards relative to all other dragons.
- Reset - Involves the creation of a new dragon by saying farewell to an old one.

- Santa Claws - A limited edition item that was available at the shop during the holiday season of 2007 for the generous price 1,000 gold and that allows all those penny saving dragons to steal an extra 0.5% gold on successful raids. Also a very witty pun. Get it? Santa ClaWs?
- Shop - Every dragon's favorite place to stock up an anything a dragon might for combat or making him or herself look pretty. Armor, potions, custom titles, the shop has it.

- Trainer - A user of Pet Dragons.
- Turns - The lifeblood of any dragon and his trainer. Each dragon receives 20 per day at 12:00am CST to spend searching for gold, hunting for food, or training for combat. Turns, once spent, cannot be regained and mistakes made while using them will not be corrected for any reason. Turns once lost or not used can also never be regained for any reason. Be careful.
- Title- Your dragon's title changes as the dragon grows in size. Ranging from Hatchling to Great Wyrm (Does anyone know the exact weights at which the titles change?). You can also purchase a Custom Title at the shop for 500,000 gold.

- Weight - Dictates the size of your dragon relative to others and has a significant influence on the combat power of your dragon. The fighting skill cannot exceed 10% of your total weight. Weight can be gained by using turns to hunting for food and is dependent on your hunting skill. In combat, a dragon may attack other dragons that are between 3/4 (75%) and 4/3 (133%) of its weight.
- Weight Class - The specific category that your dragon belongs to based on exact weight. For the individual classes follow the link.
